    Salary:
    Program Specialist 3 $4,602 - $6,198 Monthly, Program Specialist 4 $4,968 - $6,676 Monthly.

    The salary does not include an additional 5% premium pay for employees working in King County or an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium.

    The Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is accepting applications for a Substance Use Disorder Professional to provide Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program services in a juvenile rehabilitation treatment program and ensure high-quality counseling is provided for young people demonstrating emotional, connive and/or behavioral disorders.


    The Opportunity:
    As a highly valued Substance Use Disorder Professional, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional SUD and prevention services.
    You will be responsible for leading and managing treatment programs at Echo Glen Children's Center.
    This role involves SUD diagnostic evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and case management services, and supervision for prescribed treatment, maintenance of case records, and management functions.
    Some of what you will do:
    • Provide comprehensive clinical assessment and treatment for SUD services.
    • Conduct substance use assessments and diagnose substance use disorders accurately.
    • Deliver individual and group counseling, referral, case management services, and ensure timely documentation.
    • Make informed decisions on placement into SUD prevention and treatment programs.
    • Communicate effectively the assessment outcomes and treatment recommendations to the referral source.
    • Oversee routine security duties and provide supervision and assign tasks to resident groups.
    • Identify signs of psychiatric distress and take appropriate actions.
    • Foster productive connections with families, involving them in the rehabilitation and successful transition processes.

    Required Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate should aspire to the Program Specialist 4 role, but we are open to candidates at the Program Specialist 3 level, offering a clear path to meet the qualifications through an In-Training program.
    Candidates must progress to the Program Specialist 4 level within a year of joining.
    Program Specialist 4
    A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, AND two years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing therapeutic or rehabilitation services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.
    Or
    An Associate's degree or equivalent coursework in Social work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health, or related fields, AND four years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field offering therapeutic or rehabilitation services to clients from diverse backgrounds with complex needs.
    Program Specialist 3
    A Bachelor's degree, and two years of experience in planning, policy analysis, coordination, and consultation with various public and private agencies, organizations, and government levels.
    Interested candidates should obtain the SUDP certification within a year of joining.
    Degrees must be from accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and CHEA or foreign equivalents verified by NACES-approved organizations. Foreign Equivalency certification for degrees obtained outside the U.S. must be provided with the application to avoid screening out of the recruitment process.
    In addition to these qualifications, the ideal applicant will possess the following:
    • A Bachelor's Degree and/or license in psychology, social work, public health, healthcare administration, human services, or related social science fields.
    • Three years of experience in SUD prevention treatment, juvenile justice/social service roles with diverse clients having complex needs.
    • Three years of professional experience with adolescents and families dealing with substance use disorders.
    • Professional experience with cognitive behavioral interventions in social services or treatment environments.
    • Proficiency in assessment and treatment applications of best practices, principles, and strategies related to trauma-informed and culturally responsive treatment, cognitive behavioral theory, social learning theory, and mindfulness-based practices.
    • Knowledge and experience in racial justice, system inequities, disparities, and disproportionality in legal systems, with understanding of the post-traumatic impact of racial discrimination.
    • Coaching and supporting capabilities.
