    SEXUAL ASSAULT EXAMINER (SAE) COORDINATOR

    JOB POSTING

    I. Title: Sexual Assault Examiner (SAE) Coordinator

    II. Reports to: Crisis Services Program Manager

    III. Job Objective:

    Collaborate with medical staff at Orange County Hospitals and local law enforcement to ensure appropriate implementation of procedures and protocols required for implementation of SAE program. Provide direct services to victims of sexual assault and secondary victims. Orange County hospitals include Garnet Health Medical Center, Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital (Newburgh and Cornwall Campuses), Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis and St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick.

    Provide direct crisis intervention and advocacy services to sexual assault survivors and secondary survivors. Support the facilitation of the department's community education programs.

    Perform duties while actively promoting an environment consistent with MHA's Cultural Equity Policy and WELCOME Orange.

    IV. Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree in related field with 2 years of experience

    OR

    Associate degree in related field with 3 years of experience

    OR

    High School Diploma in related field with 6 years of experience

    • Ability to provide 24-hour on-call rotating responsibilities.
    • Effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be organized, self-motivated and have the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Background in violence against women services preferred.
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment under crisis situations and to abide by regulations regarding confidentiality.
    • Valid NYS Driver's License and ability to drive with current driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage.
    • Must be clear and maintain an acceptable record under any mandated criminal background check process.
    • An understanding of and commitment to social justice.

    V. Responsibilities:

    · Support the Crisis Services Manager with ensuring the Sexual Assault Prevention and Advocacy Department meets all needs of survivors of sexual assault.

    · Ensure all funding requirements and deliverables are met.

    · Recruit and maintain qualified pool of SAEs ensuring their qualifications remain current and meet program standards. Ensure contracts, insurance and competencies remain valid and current.

    · Work cooperatively with Crisis Services Manager, Senior SAE, SAEs, Orange County Hospitals which include Garnet Health Medical Center, Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital (Newburgh and Cornwall Campuses), Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis and St. Anthony's Hospital in Warwick and Orange Co. District Attorney's Office in the effective delivery of services to sexual assault victims.

    · Provide direct services to sexual assault victims and secondary victims at area hospitals, police stations and courts.

    · Perform advocate On-Call duties for a minimum of 7 days per month and the willingness to work irregular hours when necessitated by the program.

    · Support coordinating SAE schedules, ensuring appropriate coverage.

    · Develop and deliver educational workshops and professional training regarding SAE program for area hospitals, human service agencies, schools, colleges, police departments and District Attorney's Office.

    · Prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly reports and collect data on sexual assault cases for funding sources, including the NYS Department of Criminal Justice Services and Mental Health Association.

    · Ensure necessary medical, clothing, and sundry supplies at SAE Examination Room's at GHMC and Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall are appropriately stocked as well as oversee equipment (colposcope, woods lamp, digital camera, etc.) maintenance and operation.

    · Organize and implement quarterly SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) meetings and invite Orange County's sexual assault response team, which includes representatives from hospitals, law enforcement and district attorney's office.

    · Work collaboratively with SAPA Services staff to ensure overall program success.

    · Serve as an agency representative at local, regional, and statewide meetings, coalitions, and task forces.

    · Provide advocacy, support and educational services in a manner which brings a social justice analysis with particular focus on sexism and violence against women.

    · Represent agency at local, regional, and statewide meetings, coalitions, and task forces.

    VI. Other Duties:

    • Participate in MHA's committees as needed.

    VII. Terms of Employment/Benefits:

    · Non-Exempt.

    • Forty (40) hours per week.
