SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to conduct and manage all major golf championships and member golf events held at Pinehurst.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Class "A" Member of the PGA recommended but not required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and execute North & South Championships
Men's/Women's/Juniors/Seniors
Plan and execute Donald Ross Junior
Plan and execute Intercollegiate events when applicable
Explore additional sponsorships and/or partnerships to elevate in house events
When directed by Resort Management pursue revenue generating special events
Tournament office is department that leads coordination and logistics for USGA championships
Assist with logistics and event needs for US Kids Regionals and World Championships
Plan and execute Employee Winter Tour
Plan and execute Employee Golf Tournaments in February
Assist with any member events as needed by PCC Head Golf Professional
Establish starting times, scoring summaries for all tournaments as well as communicate said information to proper work groups including media.
Generate and distribute invitations or build websites for tournaments.Order tee gifts and awards for tournaments/championships.
Develop all communications for North and South Amateurs in the way of confirmations/regrets, registration materials, and recruiting letters.
Make deposits of entry fees and manage refunds for withdrawals.
Direct and train volunteers for the North and South Amateurs.
Manage private housing program for North and South Amateurs.
Public speaking at tournament or resort functions.
Responsible for payroll and forecasting in accordance to financial practices of the company.
Assist in the budgeting process and ensure cost control while ensuring overall quality of major functions in an expanding business.
Must be aware of surroundings with an understanding of a golf environment.Must have the ability to see and react to the surroundings including errant golf balls and must understand and follow proper golf etiquette while completing tasks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBITIES:
Manage (Tournament Manager and Tournament Office interns) employees in the Tournament Office. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, as well as planning assigning, directing and supporting work. Conduct performance reviews, rewarding and disciplining, and addressing complaints and problem resolution.

While performing the duties of this job, The Director of Tournament Operations must be able to stand, sit, talk, hear, and see.
The Director of Tournament Operations is frequently required to squat or kneel.This individual is occasionally required to walk, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and use hands to grab or hold objects.
Occasionally lift or hold items up to 50 pounds.Necessary vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as ability to adjust focus and make use of depth perception.
