Job SummaryThe Department of Visual and Performing Arts within the School of Liberal Arts at Georgia Gwinnett College invites applicants for a Lecturer position in music beginning August 1, 2024.
Successful candidates for the Lecturer position will be expected to teach a 5/5 load of music appreciation and other courses within GGC's growing music program.
Applicants should demonstrate significant innovations in teaching, superior service to the institution, and established research and/or performance credentials. GGC emphasizes a student-centered learning environment.
In addition to teaching, applicants are expected to actively participate in extensive student engagement, and service to the college and community. Advising and mentoring are expected of all faculty.
Master's degree in the teaching discipline; or a Master's degree and 18 graduate credits in the teaching discipline.
Preferred QualificationsPh.D. or D.M.A.
Preference may be given to those with experience teaching music appreciation and/or musicology/ethnomusicology/theory courses at the college level.
Preference may be given to those with record of accomplishments and scholarship in ethnomusicology or musicology.
Preference may be given to those with a record of accomplishments and scholarship in choral conducting, choir development, and vocal performance.
Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse population of students.
