    The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau is dedicated to providing leadership for the continued development of a viable economic and environmental climate in Branson, MO. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for our community, visitors, and future generations.     General Responsibilities:

    • Functions in accordance with BLACC/CVB Operational Guidelines and within his/her professional code of ethics.
    • Maintains a professional, courteous manner while conducting business inside and outside of the organization.
    • Participates in and contributes to the various staff development activities of the BLACC/CVB.
    • Is sensitive to and responsive to management needs.
    • Participates in all required meetings.
    • Regularly participates in evaluation of self in regard to job performance.
    • Performs other special functions that may, from time to time, be outlined and attached hereto.

    Essential Functions:

    The following examples are meant to be illustrative only and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

    · Develops and maintains good working relations with the media, including local and national newspapers, magazines, radio and television. Works with the media as necessary to generate coverage of the Branson/Lakes Area in conjunction with Media Relations Mgr.

    · Oversees all communications with the national, regional and local media in coordination with Media Relations Mgr.

    · Under the guidance of the PR Committee, explores all opportunities to expand Branson's media exposure.

    · Develops and hosts themed familiarization tours for VIP's, travel, entertainment and features editors/media several times annually with Media Relations Mgr. Also arranges familiarization tour itineraries for visiting media including accommodations, entertainment and other activities, as necessary.

    · Develops and supervises the production of press releases, publicity brochures, collateral for all departments, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, or other multimedia programs.

    · Updates local, regional, and national travel trade media lists via various media monitors in coordination with Media Relations Mgr.

    · Assists with Chamber-sponsored and seasonal tourism events (e.g., Hot Winter Fun, Branson Fest, Ozark Mountain Christmas and others as needed) with special press releases and on-site media visits..

    · Manages production of the annual Vacation Guide publication, including advertising renewals, sales tracking, ad placement layout, distribution, and working with staff on design and copy content.

    · Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
    • Exceptional writing and computer skills. Should have an above average skill level in grammar, punctuation, syntax as well as basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Ability to deliver professional presentations and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
    • Project management, time management, and the ability to multi-task effectively to meet performance goals.
    • Ability to cope with pressure.
    • Creativity, initiative, an inquiring and analytical mind, and an ongoing interest in current affairs, news and all forms of the media.

    Education:

    • 3-5 years Communications experience.
    • Experience with desktop publishing software preferred.
    • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field

    • Any combination of education, training and experience that will qualify the individual for the position.
