    POSITIONSUMMARY:
    The Anatomy Technicianis responsible for assisting in the preparation, preservation, and maintenanceof anatomical specimens for educational and research purposes.

    This includesthe dissection, preservation, and storage of human cadavers and otheranatomical specimens, and maintenance of the HoloLens technology, as well asproviding support in the anatomy laboratories for students and faculty.

    TheAnatomy Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and efficientanatomy laboratory environment and ensuring compliance with relevantregulations and protocols.

    This position reports to the Chair of Anatomy.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provides overallsupport to the Chair of Anatomy and the Anatomy Department of the College ofOsteopathic Medicine (COM)
    Dissect human cadavers and otheranatomical specimens for use in anatomy education and research, followingestablished protocols and guidelines

    Prepare and maintain anatomicalspecimens, including preserving, labeling, and cataloging specimens for properstorage and use

    Assist in the setup, maintenance, andorganization of the anatomy laboratory, including cleaning and sterilizinginstruments and equipment, ensuring adequate supplies are available, andmaintaining a safe and sanitary environment

    Provide technical support to faculty,students, and researchers in the anatomy laboratory, including assisting withdemonstrations, setting up equipment, and providing guidance on proper specimenhandling and use

    Collaborate with faculty and researchersin the development and implementation of anatomy-related projects, such asanatomical models, prosections, and research studies

    Participate in the maintenance ofdocumentation, records, and inventory related to anatomical specimens andlaboratory operations

    Stay current with best practices,regulations, and advancements in anatomy preservation and laboratorytechniques, and implement changes as needed to ensure compliance with relevantstandards

    Follow established safety protocols andprocedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and properdisposal of hazardous materials

    Collaborate with other anatomytechnicians and staff to ensure smooth operations of the anatomy laboratory andsupport the overall goals of the department or institution

    Maintain HoloLens laboratory, includingsoftware updates, sterilization of lenses, and updating the lab space asnecessary


    Assists in projects related to the work of the Chair ofAnatomy
    Takes responsibility for assigned projects, completingrelated tasks, and identifying and implementing strategies to improve processesand procedures related to the projects

    Develops and maintains standard operating procedures(SOPs) for departmental processes and implementation of COM policies

    Creates and maintains accurate files related to thedepartments, committees, events, and assigned projects

    Effectively communicates with members of the team toensure accurate record-keeping

    Facilitates timely completion of assigned tasksthrough regular reminders and follow-ups ahead of deadlines

    Assists in the development of written and printedmaterials for projects, accreditation, curriculum documents, events, etc.

    Helps to maintain documents related to faculty andstaff within the Associate Dean(s)' department


    Assists in the maintenance of the Anatomy Laboratory budgets
    Collaborates on budget oversight and record-keepingfor the Cadaver lab and HoloLens Lab

    Provides regular monitoring and budget status reportsfor the Cadaver and HoloLens Labs

    Completes otherduties as assigned


    REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree inanatomy, biology, or a related field from an accredited institution

    Work-related experience as an administrative assistant


    Preferred qualifications:
    Master's degree in anatomy or a related fieldfrom an accredited institution

    Work-related experience as an administrativeassistant in a healthcare-related or medical education field

    Demonstrated experience with, and understanding of, the broaddiversity of the University community (students, faculty, staff, and others)


    The successfulcandidate will possess any equivalent combination of experience and training,which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform theessential job functions.

    This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

    Familiarity with human anatomy, dissection, and specimenpreservation, preferably in an educational or research setting

    Familiarity with anatomical terminology, human anatomy concepts,and medical ethics

    Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and abilityto manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment

    Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, withability to effectively interact with faculty, students, and researchers

    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, andwillingness to collaborate and contribute to the overall success of the anatomylaboratory

    Knowledge of relevant regulations, guidelines, and safetyprotocols related to anatomy and specimen preservation

    Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment, instruments, andsoftware related to anatomy and specimen preservation

    Physical ability to perform dissections, lift heavy objects, andstand for extended periods of time

    Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings andweekends, as needed

    Excellenttime management and organization skills

    Strongtechnical skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,Telecommunications software (Ex: Zoom), Web-based software, Adobe PDFs

    Knowledgeand experience in accounting and financial management principles.

    Must be mobile and able to lift up-to 25 pounds. The positionrequires the ability to travel and enter facilities that may not beADA-compliant.
