    Description
Quantum Design is the leading commercial source for automated materials characterization systems incorporating superconducting technology.

These systems offer a variety of measurement capabilities and are in widespread use in the fields of physics, chemistry, biotechnology, materials science, and nanotechnology.

Quantum Design, Inc. is located in San Diego, California.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer with experience in the following areas: Board and system level power electronics and analog circuit design including switching power converter design, digital design, magnetic component design, filter design, feedback control loop design, mixed-signal and low noise precision analog design, and high voltage packaging.

    Requirements

    • Knowledge of low to medium-power electronics and electronic components.
    • Board-level design experience implementing precision, low frequency, low noise analog
electronic circuitry and associated mixed signal interfacing circuitry.

    • Schematic capture and knowledge of Altium Designer PCB designer software.
    • Laboratory experience building and testing prototype circuits.
    • Exemplary troubleshooting skills at both the circuit and system level.
    • Thorough knowledge of control theory applied to stability and response of amplifiers, oscillators, regulators, PLLs, etc. are needed, including system-level control.
    • Experience with simulation tools such as PSPICE or SIMetrix simulating circuits is necessary.
    • Experience working with low-power high voltage circuits (up to 20 kV) is desirable.
    • Experience with component non-ideal behaviors, stress and derating, worst-case circuit analyses, and reliability is required.
    • Knowledge of design methods for EMC is a plus
    • Knowledge of VHDL is a plus.
    • Facility-using repositories such as Subversion is a plus.
    • Facility programming in a high-level visual environment (such as .NET or Qt) is a plus.
    • QT, Linux, firmware expertise and working knowledge is a plus.
    • Able to demonstrate competency in project completion from design development through
    production including engineering validation.

    • Self-motivated and takes full responsibility for solutions
    • Strong communications skills
    • Demonstratable ability to clearly document designs and methods for assembly and testing, given standard engineering document management templates and databases.
    Education Requirements

    • Bachelor's, Master's Degree, or Ph.
D in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.

    • 2-7 years of experience performing engineering design-related duties. An advanced degree
may offset part of this requirement.
