- Develop, implement, and maintain systems to provide management information and analysis to nursing leadership for decision-making, ensuring the appropriate and effective utilization of personnel, financial and material resources for the Department of Nursing.
- Function as an expert resource to nursing leadership and a liaison to other appropriate departments, including Finance, Human Resources, and Information Services.
- Facilitate financial Performance Improvement in systems supporting patient care.
- Collaborate with other departments to assure availability, accuracy, timeliness and appropriate utilization of systems and information.
- Provide consultation and education related to nursing workload and resource requirements.
- Play a key role in variance corrective action plans by closely monitoring progress of plans to achieve expected outcomes.
- Review monthly variance reports and prepare a report of the top variances including revenue, expense, and statistics for the VP of Nursing.
- Assist the Nurse Managers and Directors in researching variances and preparing a corrective action plan.
- Identify opportunities for interdepartmental system improvement through performance improvement tools and techniques. Serve as a key facilitator to multiple departments to streamline services supporting patient care.
- Analyze data to provide effective management information to assure appropriate utilization of resources.
- Work with Nursing Leadership to manage the budgeting process for the Department of Nursing in developing both the operating and capital budgets.
- Design and implement management information systems.
- Create and maintain monthly and annual nursing dashboards.
- Identify management information needs of nursing leadership and evaluate adequacy of available information.
- Design information reporting systems structured to provide the effective level of information to meet the needs of the different levels of manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a closely related field required.
- A minimum of five (5)-eight (8) years of accounting, finance, hospital billing or closely related experience required. Previous leadership experience required.
- Knowledge of financial accounting and decision support systems software. Solid understanding of hospital reimbursement. Understanding of hospital billing, contracting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software. Strong computer skills. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
