    Mental Health Counselor

    Starting Pay: $55,000, based on qualifications
    Location: South Minneapolis, MN (Two Rivers)

    Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8am-4pm
    Wednesdays: 12pm-8pm

    TMH's Mental Health Counselors (MHC's) provide planning, structure, and guidance to residents receiving intensive rehabilitation treatment services.

    Mental Health Counselor Responsibilities:
    • Establish supportive and motivational relationships with residents; coach residents to utilize coping strategies and complete activities of daily living; assist in the completion of independent living skills, and provide rehabilitative skills training.
    • Observe residents for changes in health symptoms; redirect maladaptive behaviors; perform behavioral management interventions; and de-escalate mental health crises.
    • Complete functional assessments and intake interviews for new clients and complete program orientation.
    • Develop discharge plans and complete the discharge process with clients exiting the program.
    • Meet daily with clients individually or in group settings to support client goals and needs for managing their illness.
    • Perform delegated nursing services, including the administration of medications, as unlicensed personnel under the direction of the nursing staff.
    • Ensure residents and their guests are following site guidelines to ensure the facility is safe and secure.
    • Maintain client records in an electronic health record system.
    • Collaborate with other staff members, consultants, interns, and/or volunteers.
    Mental Health Counselor Requirements:
    • Must meet the definition of Mental Health Practitioner per Department of Human Services licensing requirements
    • 1-2 years of experience, 30 college credits in behavioral health, or combination required
    • Experience working with adults with SPMI, chemical dependency issues, and co-occurring disorders preferred
