    Northrop Grumman's Tactical Space Systems Division is actively seeking a talented Systems Engineer. This Principal Systems Engineer position is located in Dulles, VA supporting our National Security Space programs. The National Security Space (NSS) programs include technical roles at the mission, segment, subsystem and component levels. They span the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early operations, mission operations/sustainment and system disposal. Programs range from small feasibility studies to medium-sized on orbit technology demonstrations and large-scale national system programs.

    Systems Engineering responsibilities include:

    • Performing technical planning and analyses at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
    • The Systems Engineer ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
    • The role will include functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
    • The role may require assisting in new business activities such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies, and may include authoring sections for both.
    • Successful candidates must be able to interface with clients, as well as interact regularly with internal engineering associates and program management.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current Top Secret level clearance.
    • B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 5 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 3 years of experience; or a PhD in STEM or related area
    • Systems engineering experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Northrop Grumman Process and Procedures is highly desired
    • Active or current Top Secret clearance with current SCI clearance
    • Experience with a space development program
    • Experience presenting to customers
    • Experience working with a cross-discipline team
    • Desired experience includes one or more of the following: mission system requirements, verification/validation planning, mission planning/execution, mission analysis, modeling/simulation, system trade studies, and expertise with various engineering tools such as MATLAB, STK, and similar tools.
    Salary Range: $107, $160,900.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
