    POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for aspects of the general ledger accounting and monthly account reconciliations for multiple Fortna entities, sales & use tax returns. This position will report directly to the Assistant Controller.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Sales and Use Tax compliance
  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual state and local sales & use liability filings.
  • Gather Sales tax data for monthly processing of sales and use tax ensuring timely submission and Upload into Avalara for monthly processing and filing.
  • Periodically review and update rates in the Accounting system to ensure accuracy of Sales tax computed
  • Reconcile Sales and use tax accounts on a monthly basis and correct Sales tax discrepancies.
  • Manage and maintain certificates of sales tax exemption and ensure compliant with local regulations
  • Review and respond to correspondence from tax authorities and maintain these on file
  • Researching sales tax information and coordinating sales tax audits, as needed
  • Assist with State and IRS audits.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Assist in preparation of state and federal income tax returns
  • Maintain and manage annual tax calendar for filing requirements
  • Perform other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Innovative mindset and proposes ways to enhance processes and procedures
  • Keen Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, Business or other related fields
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Ability to work independently in a high growth environment and rapidly changing organization
  • Ability to travel occasionally domestically, less than 5%.
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or Dynamics 365
  • Proven work experience as a Tax Specialist or similar role
  • The base salary range for this role is $48,600 to $72,900. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
