    The Barrow lab of Molecular Nutrition within the Division of Nutritional Sciences focuses on tackling key challenges in obesity and metabolic diseases, mitochondrial disorders, and precision nutrition.

    The lab explores innovative strategies, including activating brown fat thermogenesis, to address metabolic dysfunction at the molecular level.

    Through leveraging proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, viral targeting, and genetic mouse models, the Barrow lab aims to uncover novel molecular targets and elucidate mechanisms with therapeutic potential in combating these complex nutritional and metabolic challenges.


    The Barrow lab of Molecular Nutrition is seeking a full-time research technician to provide basic laboratory support to the principal investigator, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in performing scientific research aimed at understanding the mechanistic basis of mitochondrial and metabolic disease.

    The responsibility includes lab organization, making common stock solutions, and assisting graduate students with animal husbandry.

    Required qualifications:

    • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
    • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Bachelor of Science degree in a biology-related field, plus minimum 6 months experience or an equivalent combination.
    • Willing to work with and handle mice.
    • Self-motivated and able to work in a collaborative team setting.
    • Detail-oriented and thorough in completing and communicating the results of work tasks.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Background knowledge in Biology and/or Biochemistry.
    • Experience in common computing software platforms (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
