- Troubleshooting and repair of spray systems and small engines and light construction equipment.
- Fabricate necessary parts for spray systems.
- Retrieve stuck vehicles by use of winch truck in a safe manner.
- Calibration of ULV fogging trucks, hand foggers, backpack blowers etc.
- Scheduling of vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- 1 year experience in metal fabrication and 4 years of journeyman level experience in the maintenance and repair of small engines and light construction equipment; or
- 1 year experience in metal fabrication and completion of an Associate's degree or 2 year vocational or technical trades certification or diploma in a related field plus 2 years of journeyman level experience in the maintenance and repair of small engines and light construction equipment; or
- 1 year experience in metal fabrication and completion of an Bachelor's or higher-level degree in a related field or 4 year vocational or technical trades certification or diploma in a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Must obtain Public Health License within 1 year from date of hire.
- Must obtain Hazwoper Certification within 2 year from date of hire.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.
- Small engine repair certification.
- Welding certification.
- Experience troubleshooting and repair of hydraulics.
- Knowledge and/or experience in calibration of chemical application equipment.
- Experience in off-road vehicle rescue and retrieval.
- Experience in communication with vendors to secure and procure parts.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office and asset management software to communicate about and process work orders.
- Experience in problem solving boat engine motors, including airboats
- Knowledge of DC electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of small equipment such as chainsaws, concrete saws, generators, pumps, and plate compactors.
- Knowledge and/or experience with various pump types including roller, piston, and diaphragm pumps.
- Welding and fabrication skills, including Mig, Tig, and stick welding.

As the Operations Maintenance Mechanic you will work in the fabrication, maintenance and repair of spray systems, small engines and light construction equipment. Employees in this class perform maintenance mechanical work associated with complex inspection, maintenance and repairs to spray systems and small engines to minimize equipment and mechanical operating problems and prevent failures by making minor or necessary mechanical repairs. Work requires the exercise of considerable independent judgement and initiative. The position reports to a supervisor or designee.
This position also receives a $.00 annual tool reimbursement.
