    Job Title Clinical Faculty Adjunct, Sonography Job Description

    The primary functions of this position are:


    Teach in assigned didactic, clinical (direct patient care), lab and/or simulated labs while supervising student participation as required by specific course objectives.

    Provide expertise and guidance during didactic and clinical or lab courses.

    Essential Duties Summary


    Assist with the day to day operations and input of the Sonography ProgramMaintain current knowledge of discipline (via professional development), educational methodologies, and college and program policies and procedures.

    Comply with and demonstrate knowledge of policies contained in the most current Sonography Student Handbook.

    Pattern program structure and curriculum using CAAHEP accreditation standards and the AIUM Diagnostic Medical Sonography Guidelines for Practice.

    Maintain professional credentials and have an understanding of the role of the sonographer in health care.

    Anticipate social change that will influence health care programs and Sonography education for the future.

    Participate in Sonography program meetings, professional growth training, seminars and workshops as they become available.

    Maintain philosophy of Sonography education and imaging services compatible with that held by the institution.

    Assist with management of student folders.

    Counsel, refer, remediate, and tutor individual Sonography students as needed.


    Supervise and provide didactic, laboratory and/or clinical instruction as assigned while utilizing techniques and knowledge of the discipline that facilitate student learning.


    Complete any relevant course responsibilities such as arriving to all assignments in timely manner, grading, posting grades & other assignments in timely manner.

    Develop a philosophy of teaching amidst changing trends in higher education.
    Teach assigned classes, labs and/or clinic sessions on-campus and off-campus.

    Provide supervision of all assigned students and/or clinical groups.

    Prepare and maintain course syllabi according to program and college standards, if assigned a didactic course.

    Maintain and revise course content based on textbook changes, edition revisions or research, if assigned a didactic course.

    Comply with course, laboratory and clinic requirements and assignments; post grades in a timely manner.

    Design and administer exams. Maintain examinations to be congruent with published learning objectives, if assigned a didactic course.

    Perform image analysis evaluations with students.

    Evaluate clinical performance for all students.

    Attend and participate in program committees/meetings; work collaboratively with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and other educational partners.

    Assist with pinning ceremonies, graduation, and student activities.

    Conduct conferences with students and provide written documentation for student files.

    Assist program faculty in conducting periodic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of courses and program objectives.

    Assist the Coordinator/Asst. Coordinator with the clinical education component of the program as needed.

    Serve as a liaison between the Coordinator/Asst. Coordinator and the affiliating clinical facilities.

    Required Qualifications

    2-3 years relevant clinical experience

    American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS)American Registry in Radiologic

    Technologist National Certification in Sonography (ARRT)

    Current BLS CPR Certification

    Current working knowledge/experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (within six (6) months immediately preceding application).


    Current national registry through either the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography and in good standing.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Previous teaching experience preferred.

    Experience working with sonography students preferred.

    Associate in Science degree (or equivalent) from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program preferred.
