Description

The Shop Foreman plays a critical role in maximizing shop efficiency and profitability by serving as a liaison between management and technicians, communicating policy and providing feedback on technicians' needs and concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Service Manager in overseeing daily operations.
• Supervise and manage technicians to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Troubleshoot problem vehicles to diagnose issues efficiently.
• Conduct road tests with customers to duplicate problems.
• Address customer inquiries and provide support as needed.
• Collaborate with technicians to diagnose vehicle issues and develop effective solutions.
• Arrange training for technicians and monitor their progress to ensure timely completion.
• Review repair orders in the morning and throughout the day to identify recalls and gather necessary information.
• Complete labor operations and record technician labor times accurately.
• Obtain warranty authorization codes for repair orders and verify correct parts are included.
• Secure approval from General Motors Product Quality Control for engine replacement within guidelines.
• Procure authorization from GM DVM for warranty repairs after the original warranty has expired.
• Manage special tools and equipment, including ordering updates and inventory as needed.
• Track internal repair orders, including used vehicles, PDI, accessories, and detail repair orders.
• Ensure used vehicles are inspected, repaired, and detailed within 72 hours.
• Participate in opening and closing the Service Department daily.
• Evaluate the shop's performance regularly.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions effectively.
• Proficiency in dealership computer systems, including Reynolds & Reynolds, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Express.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• A minimum of five years combined experience in Parts, Service, and Body Shop roles.
• Valid in-state driver's license.
• Professional personal qualities.
• Excellent communication skills.
