Summary:

Provide exceptional customer service and patient care while assisting in pharmacy distribution services (processing, filling, and sale of prescriptions) under the supervision of a pharmacist in the Osceola Clinic Pharmacy and OMC Hospital Pharmacy.

In the Clinic Pharmacy, this position will process prescription drug orders in the pharmacy computer system, assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies, and complete sales of prescriptions and over the counter products at the register. They will also assist in obtaining refill authorizations from prescribers, triage, and problem-solve insurance claim rejections, and help with maintaining inventory of medications and other supplies.

In the Hospital Pharmacy, the pharmacy technician will assist in pharmacy distribution services including picking and delivery of medications to stock automated cabinets and areas throughout the facility, compounding IV and non-sterile products, preparing and packaging medications, and maintaining inventory needs.

Typical Schedule

Part-time (0.6 FTE), Shifts vary between Clinic and Hospital Pharmacies. One Saturday shift every 4-5 weeks.

Clinic Pharmacy Hours: Monday - Thursday 8 am - 7 pm, Friday 8 am - 5 pm, Saturday 8:30 am - 2 pm
Hospital Pharmacy Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or GED
Licensed or pursing licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Wisconsin
National Pharmacy Technician certification preferred
Experience as a pharmacy technician preferred

Responsibilities Include:

Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies
Processing prescription drug orders in pharmacy computer system
Obtaining refill authorizations from providers
Triage and problem-solve insurance claim rejections
Complete sale of prescriptions and OTC products at register
Inventory Management: monitor pharmacy inventory needs, contact buyer and/or submit appropriate drug orders, put away in correct location
Replenish supplies needed for department
Timely return of prescriptions from will-call if not picked up within 2 weeks
Remove products from circulation prior to expiring
Adhere to state and federal legal requirements
Assist in training new staff and provide appropriate feedback as necessary
Completes required facility education
Check stock needs of various departments, compile appropriate replacement stock, deliver to correct location
Admixture of IV medications & chemotherapeutic/hazardous medications
Unit dose packaging
Unit inspections

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Ability to enter prescription orders in computer
Ability to prepare and label prescription orders
Ability to complete sales at register and provide customer service
Ability to put away pharmacy order
Ability to remove prescriptions > 2 weeks old from will-call section
Ability to order medication inventory and supplies
Ability to restock necessary supplies
Ability to perform inspection/outdate check
Ability to perform IV and Chemotherapy admixture (sterile compounding)
Ability to perform compounding (non-sterile)
Ability to conduct unit dose packaging
Ability to perform WIR program maintenance
