    Description

    Job Title: GPU Architect and System Engineer

    Company: Base-2 Solutions

    Description:

    • GPU Architecture and Design: Collaborate with a diverse team to define, develop, and optimize GPU architectures, ensuring they meet strict performance, power efficiency, and feature requirements. Use industry insights to guide design decisions, making sure designs work well on Linux and other systems.
    • Operating System Integration: Work closely with OS developers to smoothly integrate GPUs with Linux-based systems. Optimize GPU drivers for compatibility, performance, and reliability in a Linux environment. Provide regular maintenance and updates for ongoing compatibility.
    • Hardware Expertise: Contribute to GPU hardware design and development, offering insights into hardware architecture for efficient software interaction. Maintain and update hardware designs as necessary.
    • CUDA / OpenCL Programming: Develop and optimize applications using CUDA or OpenCL, leveraging GPU hardware for parallel processing, high-performance computing, and machine learning on Linux platforms. Maintain and update software for peak performance.
    • Performance Analysis: Analyze GPU performance, identify bottlenecks, and enhance performance across various Linux applications. Monitor and improve performance regularly.
    • GPU Tooling: Create and maintain debugging tools, profiling utilities, and performance analysis software for Linux systems to support efficient GPU development and troubleshooting.
    • Power Efficiency: Focus on optimizing GPU power consumption for efficient operation on mobile and desktop Linux platforms. Continuously improve power efficiency strategies.
    • Testing and Validation: Design and execute tests to validate GPU performance and functionality on Linux, including stress testing and debugging to ensure robust operation. Expand the testing suite as needed.
    • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation, including architectural specifications and code documentation for GPU development on Linux. Keep documentation current with updates and enhancements.
    • Industry Insight: Stay informed about GPU industry trends and innovations, contributing to research efforts and proposing Linux-specific approaches to GPU design and optimization.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
    • 10+ years of systems engineering experience.
    • Proven expertise in GPU architecture design and performance optimization.
    • Strong understanding of computer hardware architecture, especially in Linux systems.
    • Knowledge of parallel computing, graphics algorithms, and real-time rendering in Linux environments.
    • Familiarity with GPU debugging tools and profiling software for Linux.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills in a Linux context.
    • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or BASH.
    • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Terraform, etc.

    Desired Skills and Experience:

    • Published research or contributions in the GPU industry, with a focus on Linux.
    • Experience with machine learning and neural network frameworks on GPUs in Linux.
    • Knowledge of GPU virtualization, cloud computing, and emerging Linux-based technologies.
    • Proficiency in GPU-specific programming languages.
    • Experience with container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes.
    • Experience with Prometheus/Grafana for monitoring.
    • Knowledge of distributed resource scheduling systems (Slurm, LSF, etc.).
    • Basic knowledge of deep learning frameworks and algorithms.
