    Job Summary:

    The Application Engineer designs,programs, and assists in the commissioningand troubleshooting of Energy ManagementSystems in a commercial environment. Theyserve as project manager for controls projects and manage Controls Installersto ensure successful implementation of Energy Management Systems.

    Utilize programmingtools, standards and procedures, and their knowledge of building systems andapplications, they develop program instructions for Reliable Controls DDCcontrollers and front-end user interface on projects.

    The Application Engineer shall incorporate the UnitedMechanical Vision and Business Strategy by providing "Proactive World ClassService" to the markets served, based on Profitability, Credibility, EmployeeBase Environment, Customer Service, and Quality.

    Essential Functions:


    • Readand understand construction MEP drawings and specifications.
    • Readand understand control drawings, schematics, and electrical line diagrams.
    • Coordinateteam schedule with Electrical Field Manager to meet project deadlines.
    • Actas primary point of contact for controls customers and Project Managers/GCs
    • Assistand teach all technicians and apprentices in all categories.
    • Actas high-level technical support for Controls team, project team and customers.
    • Produceas-builts based upon initial project construction drawings and fieldmodification mark-ups using Visio.
    Competencies:


    • Strongworking knowledge of control system design, specifically for HVAC systems.
    • Strongworking knowledge of BAS control components (AI, UI, DO, DI, Relays, Triacs,etc.).
    • Strongworking knowledge and adherence of NEC (National Electric Code).
    • Strongworking knowledge of mechanical systems sequence - ability to work with clientsand engineers to develop proper sequence for systems.
    • Strongworking knowledge of refrigerant cycle - how various pieces of equipmentoperate to aid in troubleshooting and conflict resolution.
    • Mustbe able to pass a background check.
    • Must have a valid Driver'sLicense and a cleandriving record
    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the teammember is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is occasionallyactive and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping,crouching, crawling and climbing.

    Specific vision abilities required by thisjob include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    This position requiresthe ability to occasionally lift controls equipment and materials, up to 40pounds.

    Preferred Educationand Experience:


    • High SchoolDegree or equivalent necessary.
    • Relevant industrycertifications are considered an asset.
    • Aminimum of 5 years of experience in an application engineering role in thebuilding automation systems industry, particularly in system design,implementation, and support.
    • Competenciesin Microsoft Visio, BACnet, Modbus, multi-vendor integration and/or theReliable Controls products would be considered an asset.
