    Senior Project Engineer, Plumbing Codes & Standards

    Opportunity

    As a key technical contributor, the Senior Project Engineer Plumbing Codes & Standards position supports existing and new product development, working to ensure product compliance to codes, standards, and regulations, primarily but not limited to the US and Canada.

    This position actively represents the business interests at code meetings, standards committees, regulatory hearings, and trade associations, while maintaining and communicating detailed understanding of business impacts, product compliance, and industry developments relevant to our products, their applications and markets served.


    • Research and follow pertinent codes, standards, and regulatory activities to analyze business impacts
    • Communicate impacts to internal stakeholders to ensure product compliance
    • Represent Kohler as an industry leader on building codes, plumbing codes and standards, water and energy efficiency, chemical composition, and accessibility codes and standards primarily, but not limited to, the US and Canada
    • Propose and actively track code and standard changes through completion, engaging with stakeholders as needed
    • Collaborate with industry associations to advance model codes, standards, state regulations and laws for the betterment of the business and the industry
    • Attend and actively represent the business interests at code, standard and regulatory meetings, holding official committee positions as needed
    • Review test reports and submit to appropriate agencies for approvals and certifications
    • Work with internal global compliance teams.
    • Support Sales teams by creating Codes and Standards presentations, literature, and training to drive continuous improvement and increase brand awareness.

    Skills/Requirements

    • Bachelors Degree in engineering, public policy, regulatory affairs or similar from a four-year college or university
    • Preferred 2+ years of experience with building or plumbing codes, product standards, product certification, or regulatory compliance with focus on the plumbing industry
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal, analytical and negotiation skills
    • Travel 20%
