    Summary

    The Design Engineer designs products, services, and documentation in accordance with applicable contract requirements and Val-Matic standards for safety and quality. Conducts research and development projects under the direction of the PMC and PDC and represents the Company in technical forums.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for developing and implementing assigned Product and Engineering Calculation standards. Plans and implements the necessary tests to verify product performance and safety.
    • Helps maintain the Technical Library which shall include applicable documents in the areas of Codes, material sciences, mechanical design and valve design and testing.
    • Reviews technical content of product literature including suggested specifications, white papers, application software and product application guides.
    • Prepares maintenance of drawings, preparation of information for UL, FM, NSF 61, ISO and US Government approvals.
    • Responsible for the preparation of technical materials and application suggestions to support company sales. Conduct plant and field investigations under adverse conditions to evaluate product installations and problems. Respond to customer calls or inquiries about technical questions on valve applications.
    • Perform Design and Development Planning as directed by the PMC and assure that quality production information is available.
    • Maintain a current proficiency in the standard Company design and production software.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of mechanical design, test methods, and flow equations for application to valve design. Assist in the development of manufacturing technologies such as rubber molding, welding, etc. Attend design conferences to maintain knowledge of latest technologies.
    Required Qualifications
    • BS degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
    • MINIMUM 5 years' experience in a related industry experience or equivalent combination.
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods in a machining and an assembling environment.
    • Knowledge of quality systems in an ISO9001 environment.
    • Proficient in MS Office suite applications
    • Ability to prioritize jobs and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong verbal and written communication to clearly communicate with internal and external customers
    • Ability to use reasoning and logic to identify alternative solutions or to adapt and apply past solutions to solve new problems
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to be on feet up to 8-12 hours per shift
    • Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
    • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
    Wages

    $85,000 - $90,000
