- Execute all required tests on transformers, control boxes, and other components/subassemblies following established procedures and specific instructions.
- Cultivate and sustain advanced skills in testing controls and auxiliary devices, including control box pretests, fan motor and LTC wiring and functional tests, LTC oil filter pretests, CT wiring, relay tests, and electronic and PLCbased instrumentations like ETM and gas analyzers.
- Address nonconformities as per procedure, including documentation and segregation.
- Troubleshoot failures based on procedure and/or under guidance.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and maintain 5S of workstations, test equipment, test floors, and offices.
- Calculate test data to verify test parameters and evaluate test result calculations to determine acceptability.
- Record and file test result calculations and analyze final test reports.
- Move and set up transformers, assemblies, and auxiliary devices to and from the test floor.
- Clean and maintain test floor facilities.
- Document nonconformance and support troubleshooting activities.
- Generate preliminary test reports.
- Technical proficiency and experience in comprehensive power transformer and associated auxiliary apparatus testing.
- Proficiency in documentation and calculation involved with transformer testing.
- Ability to calculate test results and interpret them to determine product acceptance or rejection.
- Computer proficiency using Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PCbased test equipment.
- Timely and errorfree performance of physical work and calculations of test results.
- Understanding of electricity and safety rules related to electricity.
- Demonstrate competency and engage in the continuous improvement process.
- Ability to follow specific instructions, established procedures, and adhere to industry standards.
- Competence in performing basic electrical engineering calculations and interpreting results.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as IEEE and IEC.
- Comfortable working with very high voltages.
- Effective communication with peers, inspectors, manufacturing, planning, marketing, and engineering departments.
- Proficient operation of test apparatus and controls; understanding of instrumentation used in tests; knowledge of test floor facility limitations and safety rules.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for errorfree transmission of facts.
- Strict attention to details related to report writing.
- Competence using electronic calculators and entering data in electronic systems.
- Ability to work at heights (30 feet) with fall protection.
- Associate's degree in Power, High Voltage, Electrical Engineering, Utilities Engineering, Electromagnetic, or equivalent major, or 2 years' experience with Transformer Factory/Field Testing experience.
