    THE POSITION Do you want to contribute to enhancing road safety in Pennsylvania? The Bureau of Motor Vehicles is searching for a skilled candidate to conduct audits on inspection stations.

    DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position the Motor Vehicle Program Inspector is responsible for organizing and performing audits of inspection stations.

    You will work within an assigned geographic area to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, statutes, and protocols for the vehicle safety inspection program.

    The employee is assigned a caseload and travels to inspection stations to review and analyze station records to validity security and use of certificates of inspection.

    This work is vital to ensure the integrity of the program, which helps keep properly functioning vehicles on the road.

    This is field work that will conduct covert and overt audits on various non-CDL Third-Party Testers and Examiners within a geographically assigned area of the state.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:
    Full-time employment, 75 hours bi-weekly Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Flex time/overtime as required/authorized. The assigned geographical region for this position is Northumberland County.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    Two years of experience in an automotive repair related field such as: service writer/advisor; technical manual writer; automotive tool and equipment salesman/serviceman; auto mechanic; or auto shop foreman and a high school diploma; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training


    Special Requirement:
    This position requires possession of a Pennsylvania Safety Mechanics Certification within 90 days of the date of employment


    Additional Requirement:
    This position requires possession of a valid PA Class non-commercial driver's license. You must be able to perform essential job functions.


    Legal Requirements:


    This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
