The successful candidate must demonstrate diplomacy, tact, and sensitivity to cultural diversity. The ability to provide business-focused and cost-efficient advice in a challenging operating and legal environment is crucial.

    Responsibilities include:

    Legal Compliance:

    • Advise clients on the implementation of new cyber regulations applicable to critical infrastructure operators.
    • Provide guidance on legal and regulatory requirements related to cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection.
    • Interface with leadership, operational teams, IT, and other legal groups to translate legal requirements into operational controls, ensuring compliance with international, federal, and state laws.

    Risk Assessment and Management:

    • Assess potential legal risks and liabilities associated with cybersecurity incidents, data breaches, and privacy breaches.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop strategies for mitigating and managing legal risks.
    • Provide legal counsel to IT Forensics during cyber investigations and serve as the primary legal contact for cyber incident response efforts across international jurisdictions.

    Training and Education:

    • Develop and deliver training programs and materials on cybersecurity legal compliance and best practices for employees.
    • Stay abreast of emerging legal developments in cybersecurity and data protection, providing guidance to internal stakeholders accordingly.

    Policy Development and Advocacy:

    • Collaborate with government affairs to advocate for cybersecurity regulations aligned with company interests.
    • Participate in the development of corporate cybersecurity policies and standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to cybersecurity and privacy, engaging in advocacy efforts as appropriate.

    Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and excellent academic credentials.
    • Current active admission to a U.S. Bar required.
    • Minimum 5+ years of experience practicing law with a focus on cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, or similar regulatory compliance matters.
    • Strong interest in technology and understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to cybersecurity and data protection on a global basis.
    • Experience advising corporations or similarly sized organizations on cybersecurity legal matters preferred.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with a client-focused approach.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality.
