    What you'll do

    The Neuroscience Technician I performs a vital role in assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating patient conditions. The Neuroscience Technician I performs standard electroencephalographic examinations for patients as directed according to established standards and practices. Responsibilities include administering inpatient, long term EEG monitoring, and outpatient EEGs in a safe, timely, accurate and efficient manner. Other responsibilities may include assisting the physician with EMG testing and providing patient and family education.


    • Performs diagnostic Electroencephalograph testing for ages ranging from pediatric to adult.
    • Receives orders for testing for inpatients, and prioritizes assignments based on the MDs ordered priority.
    • The Technician will review scheduled outpatient EEG appointments the day prior, and contact the patient to confirm appointment details and answer questions.
    • Reviews pertinent medical information including allergies, medications, and chief complaint.
    • The Technician will have knowledge of and use proper body mechanics for safe patient handling when assisting patients with mobility deficits.
    • Performance of technical process is in accordance with written department policy and procedure.
    • Selects the correct montage determined by provider reading the study.
    • Fully observes live trace during photic provocation, and hyperventilation.
    • Performs all necessary functions and documentation prior to completion of diagnostic EEG testing.
    • Identifies and reports changes in patient condition to the nurse or physician promptly.
    • Utilizes the EMR and EEG testing software for documentation and collection of testing data. This includes charge capture for accurate billing.
    • Submits all hard copy medical records to Health Information Management department at the end of each business day.
    • Participates in the collection of Performance Improvement data as assigned.
    • Maintains and cleans all department equipment based on equipment Instructions For Use or infection control policies, and reports issues to Management.
    • Maintains all departmental logs for regulatory compliance.
    • Attends all departmental meetings, or reviews meeting minutes when unable to attend.
    • Attends all required trainings, completes mandatory education, and maintains up to date knowledge in the Neurodiagnostic field.
    • Performs other duties as requested.
    What we need from you


    Education:

    • High School Diploma or GED, required

    Experience:

    • Minimum one year EEG testing, previous work in a neuroscience department or related field, preferred

    Licensure/Certifications:

    • BLS certification within 6 months of hire, required

    Physical Requirements:

    • Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work
    • Occasional crouching, kneeling, stooping
    • Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking, fit testing
    • Constant seeing/monitor/computer use

    This position is eligible for a sign on bonus up to:

    USD $10,000.00

    Pay Range


    Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.

    The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.


    Pay Range Minimum:
    USD $21.11/Hr.


    Pay Range Maximum:
    USD $31.67/Hr.
