    Job Description:


    Expert level IT worker, performs work that involves the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.

    Functions commonly performed by employees in this specialty may include:

    analyzing and defining network requirements; defining and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers, and switches; analyzing network workload; monitoring network capacity and performance; diagnosing and resolving network problems; developing network backup and recovery procedures; installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading network operating systems software; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/ information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services.

    Sets up, troubleshoots, and develops network architectures for test, admin, and networks under test.

    Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices.

    Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like. Configures systems to user environments. Supports acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services. May act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for lower level employees.


    Experience & Education:
    Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 11 years progressively responsible network systems engineering experience.

    Security Clearance:
    U.S. Citizen and possess appropriate level DoD security clearance.


    Skill Set or Certifications:
    Knowledge of hardware and software configurations, ability to execute routine maintenance, mathematics and engineering knowledge. Personnel will be DoD M compliant within six (6) months of assignment.

    Demonstrated proficiency to support Network System Integration with one or more of the following certifications:
    Network+, A+, Security+, Microsoft Systems Engineer, and Cisco Certified Network Associate.
