    Surgical Services Administrative Assistant

    Coordinates all surgical services office responsibilities, including but not limited to, statistical reports, checking licensures/listings, assigned meeting minutes, filing, office organization, surgical scheduling of procedures, coordinating departments with surgery schedule meeting needs of the case, entering data for billing of procedures and anesthesia, and general secretarial duties as assigned.

    Notifies vendors when services are needed.


    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include but not limited to:

    • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of one-year experience in healthcare facility.
    • Knowledge base of anatomy and physiology.
    • Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Good to excellent computer knowledge, familiar with scheduling and word processing programs.
    • Able to type minimum of 40 wpm.
    • Clinical knowledge in the surgical specialties St. Luke's supports.

    Essential Functions include but not limited to:

    • Knowledge in business/medical communications, office procedures and organizational skills.
    • Good computer skills with the ability to operate photocopy, fax machine, telephone etiquette and knowledge base of a multiline phone system. The ability to receive and refer visitors and telephone callers.
    • Assists with preparation of assigned reports. Record the log of daily surgical procedures. Entering charges into Medical Record system keeping abreast of changes to CDM process and other changes.
    • Completes assigned meeting minutes and sends out memo communications efficiently. Disseminates daily surgical schedule to all departments on time.
    • The ability to handle multi-department scheduling with coordination of surgical procedure needs including PPS, Lab, X-ray, ED, physician offices and patients.
    • Assists with core measures by generating a current surgical patient log list pertinent to the evaluation needed of patient chart.
    • Assists the in the ordering of equipment, special supplies and implants needed for surgery case posted.
