    Our global Specialty Insurance client is looking for a Direct Hire Lead Network Engineer in Houston, TX (Jersey Village area Hybrid: 4 days onsite, 1 day work from home). You will manage and maintain complex global network systems; including routers, switches, load-balancers, firewalls, network management, and monitoring tools. Hands-on technical lead role, providing technical leadership and guidance across the Operations team.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Act as a technical mentor to the Operations team.
    • Enforce standards to ensure quality and productivity.
    • Proactively operate, maintain, and monitor the network infrastructure globally, delivering "network as a service" to each business unit across the company.
    • Incident Management – Oversee troubleshooting of complex outages.
    • Problem Management – Ensure open problem records are regularly updated and reported on.
    • Change Management – Ensure network changes are aligned with internal change management processes.
    • Provide technical expertise across the organization.
    • Champion and adhere to standards and operating procedures.
    • Actively participate and engage in network design governance.

    Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of experience as a network engineer in large enterprise organizations (3,000+ users)
    • 3+ years of experience in a global company across multiple geographies, time zones, and cultures.
    • Strong experience in a team lead/manager capacity
    • Hands-on experience in implementing, managing, and troubleshooting networks
    • Familiarity with a variety of testing tools, networking technologies, and techniques.
    • Experience planning and managing change to technology, services, and products.
    • Expert knowledge of industry changes, updates, and technical developments.

    Technical Skills Required:

    • Cisco Routing & Switching (IOS, ASR, ISR, NXOS)
    • Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI, APIC)
    • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
    • Cisco Meraki Wireless
    • Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA, Firepower, NGFW)
    • VMWare VeloCloud SD-WAN
    • Citrix NetScaler Load balancing & content switching
    • Web Proxy / URL filtering
    • BGP and OSPF
    • Policy Maps
    • Segmentation, VLAN, Spanning Tree, L3 interfaces, HSRP, EIGRP, TCP/IP
    • QoS (Quality of Service), ACL (Access Control Lists)
    • Network Monitoring & Alerting
    • Network Traffic Analysis (Netflow, SPAN)
    • Network Security products (including IDS, IPS, DLP)
    • DDoS mitigation techniques and technologies

    Desired Certifications:

    • Cisco CCNP certification or higher; CCIE highly preferred
    • ITIL v3 foundation or higher
