We have set up a state-of-the-art 15,000 sq ft industrial R&D center in Mountain View, CA. Join our team and be a part of the growing battery revolution.We are looking for a Cathode Manufacturing Process Engineer to design, develop, and scale-up the production of innovative materials, leveraging Mitra Chem's accelerated R&D infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
Determine cathode product strategies and identify chemical and synthesis design spaces that address current and future customer needs.
Learn, establish, and leverage chemical design and synthesis rules to create cathodes with optimal composition, interfacial properties, morphology, and electrochemical characteristics.
Develop and test hypotheses based on scientific literature.Oversee experiments, including synthesis, metrology, cell prototyping, and cell testing.
Translate between end-application needs and material design parameters.
Conduct sophisticated design-of-experiments, utilizing modern informatics approaches.
Work closely with the R&D and software infrastructure teams to develop Mitra's products.
Evaluate and experiment with routes for scaling-up powder production.
Integrate internal lab/pilot results and external equipment supplier inputs to design and optimize battery cathode manufacturing process and mass production facilitySelect, size and customize cathode manufacturing equipment and conduct equipment field testingPlan and lead cathode manufacturing scale-up testing kg scale) and collect and analyze test data to optimize equipment performanceDrive QC improvements at multiple points in the manufacturing process and communicate with R&D team to improve product quality control Qualifications:BS/MS or advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, with minor in chemistry or material science.3+ years scale-up experience of pilot operation in battery electrode manufacturingHands-on experience with various unit operations, including but not limited to precipitation, filtration, dry and wet milling, drying, high temperature calcination and powder handlingPrior experience with lithium-ion battery cathode synthesis is a plusPrior experience with pilot and mass production facility design in an EPCM setup is a plus Benefits:Competitive compensation package including company equityComprehensive benefits including health, vision and dental insurance, Tax-free spending accounts, along with life and disability insurances401k matching and savings programsFlexible time off with company holidaysFree daily lunch and snacks The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:The estimated base salary range for this role is $92,000-$136,000.Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus and equity plan.
