- Verification of Insurance: Verifying patient insurance coverage to ensure necessary procedures are covered benefits and obtain patient deductibles and co-pays, assisting surgery counselors with insurance benefits. Verify insurance benefits for surgery patients and relay information to patient. Input insurance information into patients' chart.
- Assist with day-to-day clinic operations relating to cataracts, pediatric, glaucoma and YAG surgeries
- Fax precertifications for surgery
- Obtain Referral Authorization: Pre-verification of patient's insurance before an appointment and obtaining all necessary insurance required information prior to visit
- Counseling patients: Counseling patients about co-pays, deductibles
- Payment Arrangement: Help arrange payments for services that are not covered by their insurance companies, discussing different financing options to fit their budgets
- Resource: Be a resource to other business office personnel and clinic.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Business Office, work to facilitate day-to-day clinic operations for surgery counselors, including, but not limited to: verify benefits and relay information to patients, input insurance information into system, making sure surgery schedule is correct, getting surgery authorizations/medical clearances, getting information to offsite facilities, and collecting payments.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certifications/Licensures:

Experience:
Minimum of 1-year medical office experience
General knowledge of insurance
