Official Court Reporter, grade 36, $26.74 hourly
Kansas Judicial Branch Benefits
Job Duties: Highly responsible work transcribing verbatim testimony at state judicial trials, hearings, and conferences. Duties involve full responsibility for producing complete, accurate reports of proceedings which may involve technical terminology. Must keep all exhibits in possession until such time as requested by the court, attorneys, or parties involved in related litigation. Must prepare transcripts from electronically recorded proceedings as well as from own reported proceedings, and coordinate requests for transcripts of electronically recorded proceedings with the clerk of court as per Supreme Court Rule 362. May be required to perform administrative duties for supervising district judge, including scheduling, typing correspondence, resulting cases in court program, and other duties as assigned. All work performed in accordance with procedures established by the district judges and is reviewed upon completion for accuracy and content.
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent with formal training in machine shorthand. Experience with using computer equipment and be able to learn and use court-related software programs. Must possess a Kansas Certified Court Reporter certificate in compliance with applicable Kansas Supreme Court rules.
