The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking to fill the position of Executive Assistant to Chief Justice Sharon L. Kennedy.As the Executive Assistant to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, this role is pivotal in providing confidential strategic advice, administrative guidance, and clerical support, while also playing a proactive role in driving the vision and effectiveness of the Chief Justice's office.
This position will be responsible for managing a dynamic workload, coordinating special projects, and serving as a strategic partner to the Chief Justice in fulfilling their leadership responsibilities.
What You'll Do:
Administrative Duties:
Manage the Chief Justice's calendar identifying opportunities for engagement and advocacy. Schedule appointments, meetings, and events with efficiency and attention to detail. Coordinate travel arrangements, including transportation, accommodations, and itinerary planning.
Prepare all necessary materials for oral argument and court conference. Coordinate and distribute schedules for oral argument, court conference, batch circulation, and administrative conference.
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing professional and timely responses to inquiries and requests.
Maintain office records, files, and databases, organizing information for easy access and retrieval. Help implement efficient systems to streamline office processes.
Handle incoming calls, emails, and mail, prioritizing messages and delegating tasks as appropriate.
Maintain office equipment and orders office supplies.
Strategic Management Duties:
Act as strategic and operational partner with the Chief Justice providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making and leadership.
Serve as a liaison between the Chief Justice and internal court staff, as well as external partners, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
Assist with the preparation of speeches, presentations, and other communication materials for the Chief Justice, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and relevance.
In addition to the outlined responsibilities, this role requires adaptability, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
As a key member of the Chief Justice's team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the operations of the Supreme Court and contribute to the delivery of justice in our state.

What we're looking for:
Requires at least six years progressive experience in an administrative role supporting director level or higher position or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
Paralegal experience will be considered a plus.
Experience in a legal environment and knowledge of the state judicial system and state government practices is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects.
This position also requires considerable organizational and administrative skills, superb communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, the ability to conduct basic research on the Internet and the ability to handle multiple complex projects.
Must have a good command of Microsoft Office applications to include proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and Adobe PDF.
Ability to respond appropriately to sensitive and/or confidential issues; deal effectively with the public and persons at the highest level of state government, including judicial and legislative leaders is a must.
Requires the ability to handle sensitive, face-to-face contact with the public and government officials in a composed, hospitable, and approachable manner.
This position is regularly exposed to sensitive information and the employee is expected to keep any such information strictly confidential.
