    Description
    The Plant Engineering organization provides engineering oversight, program support, and qualified staff to support the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTP) mission
    Near term support is provided by the Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC)
    The mission includes safely storing, treating, and immobilizing the highly hazardous radiological wastes created during prior periods of nuclear processing at the Hanford Reservation
    The Plant Engineering organization and programs provide the framework for executing engineering work
    Plant Engineering personnel are responsible for the technical adequacy of Plant Engineering products and decisions
    The Lead Network Engineering Specialist is responsible for requirements, design, development, documentation, testing, and maintenance of plant communication system
    The lead determines test objectives, instrumentation, and data requirements, writes test plans, schedules program activities, analyzes resultant data, and documents with test reports
    This position interfaces with cross functional organizations at all levels including presentations, group meetings, and development of requirements and project implementation
    The position will execute Plant Engineering activities ensuring optimum outputs are achieved in the most economic and safe manner while supporting the integrity and infrastructure of the department
    This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS


    • Provides project management support for the design, planning, and integration of new and upgraded network, radio and data transmission communication, and systems-based engineering tasks
    • Coordinates and works closely with other engineering, business services and program management disciplines to define system specifications and develop/deploy engineering products
    • Writes test plans, analyzes test data, and documents results with test reports
    • System design, configuration, testing and management of network equipment
    • Supporting operations and maintenance tasks to include monitoring data communications and network issues
    • Supporting the development and review of approved procedures to those processes that users follow and updates work instructions according
    • Organize, plan, and execute tasks and projects
    • Resolve condition report issues or other similar discrepancies as assigned
    • Ensure the health and safety of self by implementing the principles of ISMS
    • Ensure that personal conduct of work is consistent with nuclear safety and quality culture expectations
    • Support operations, maintenance, and commissioning of the WTP Facilities
    • Remain apprised of operational status and ongoing modification activities
    • Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups
    • Ensures timely and accurate oral and written technical reports on assigned activities
    • Complete required training and maintain qualifications associated with assignments
    • Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work to protect self, others, and the environment This job description is not intended to include every duty, task, or instruction for which an employee is responsible

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Coordinate and lead the work of 2 to 5 engineers assigned to the group
    • Ensure engineers assigned to the group have sufficient resources to complete assignments
    • Ensure engineers assigned to the group obtain and maintain qualifications necessary to perform their tasks
    • Monitor group and individual engineer performance and ensure appropriate communication to management is provided
    Provide coaching to Plant Engineers assigned to the group REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS Education:


    • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent Information Technology field and six (6) years' experience in an Information Technology field
    • Associates degree in Business, Engineering, Science or Information Technology degree and eight (8) years' experience in an Information Technology field
    Possess the ability to perform vital and detailed Information Technology functions


    • High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years' experience with implementation and maintenance of Information Technology systems
    Possess the ability to perform vital and detailed Information Technology functions Experience:


    • Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
    Candidate must have at least two (2) years' experience in a lead/supervisory role directing the work of others Preferred Experience:


    • Able to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Teaching others and sharing their knowledge
    • Desire for continuous learning and improve their mastery of new skills and technologies
    • Possess project management skills including schedule development
    • Systems engineering methodologies
    • Networks - Cisco Switches/VoIP.
    • Virtualization - VMware.
    • Active Directory Management
    Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities Preferred Certifications:


    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation
    Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting
    Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment
    Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity

    This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.

    BENEFITS HIRING SALARY RANGE:
