    The Talent Development Specialist holds a track record of innovative instructional design of blended development support solutions. Reporting to the Manager of Talent Development, this position is responsible for leading efforts that enhance continuous learning within Extra Space Storage. The Talent Development Specialist will assess development needs, prepare design documentation, identify objectives, develop supportive materials, deliver solutions, and evaluate outcomes that facilitate professional development, leadership, and continuous learning for all ESS employees.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Drives competency growth by incorporating best practices and emerging technologies for instructional design, performance support and development
    • Collaborates with internal business customers to conduct development needs analysis that will determine the appropriate learning intervention
    • Synthesizes information from needs assessments to make recommendations and develop innovative solutions that align with business strategies
    • Fully own new hire and new leader onboarding including assessments
    • Fully own Clifton Strengths Finder Program
    • Captures organizational knowledge for inclusion in development solutions
    • Create, design, and implement various types of training and development programs and strategies that are aligned with the department's objectives
    • Selects appropriate instructional methodologies such as individual coaching, group instruction, self-study, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, and computer-based training
    • Plan, organize, facilitate, and assist with materials needed for development and training programs
    • Maintain learning and development internal SharePoint site
    • Build relationships with 3rd party training providers
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments in learning trends, changes in learning theory and developments in learning technologies
    • Help monitor, evaluate, and recommend improvements to organization and talent development solutions
    • Assist in data analysis
    • Exemplify the values of the organization and culture of learning
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Adult Learning, Organizational Development, Educational Technology, Business, Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or related discipline
    • 5 or more years of related experience
    • Experience using e-learning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Audacity, Camtasia, Photoshop or Illustrator, and InDesign
    • Experience with Clifton Strength Finder. Gallup Certified Strengths Coach preferred
    • Advanced level ability to create templates, surveys, presentations, and technical documentation using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
    • Experience facilitating and coordinating company-wide programs and training events
    • Experience with Learning/Talent Management Systems required. Experience with Workday Learning, preferred
    • Curiosity to explore, implement and integrate new technologies. Overall aptitude for learning emerging technologies quickly and providing support for users
    • Self-directed learner who seeks opportunities to develop additional skills. Independently and proficiently applies occupational knowledge and skills. Remains current with trends in profession. Leads and guides others to develop new skills or knowledge
    • Experience with effective learning and development methods
    • Ability to communicate effectively and engage with employees
    • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member
    • This position may occasionally be required to travel to company locations other than where normally assigned for the purpose of project work, meetings, or presentations. This may involve overnight travel
