    Description
    MRC has an immediate opening for a full time entry level Visitor Control Specialist supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center - Crane Division
    Visitor and access control is a physical security measure utilizing physical and administrative controls primarily concerned with the protection of sensitive and/or classified information, personnel, facilities, or other sensitive materials, resources, or processes against criminal, terrorist, insider threat, or hostile intelligence activities with the goal of ensuring access to facilities and information is restricted based on need-to-know, authorization, and in accordance with command security policy
    The qualified candidate will be responsible for the following:


    • Serve as the Security Clerk, responsible for issuing and accounting of access control credentials and passes in order to control entry and access, protect sensitive property, information, material, equipment, and all other tasks related to pass and identification function.
    • Support established security programs (e.g., personnel, physical, information, or industrial security) when such work requires, additionally, general administrative and or clerical skills, practical knowledge of specific security objectives, programs, methods and procedures, and skills in carrying out support tasks related to security administration.
    • Instruct visitors on security requirements, especially those relating to prohibited items and the necessity of wearing entry credentials, and passes.
    • Conduct inventory to ensure that all entry credentials and passes are issued, accounted and turned-in in accordance with the established guidance.
    • Greet visitors at security desk, verify clearances and notify local sponsor/Point of Contact (POC) of arrival
    Issue appropriate badges to all visitors entering controlled access facilities.


    • Verify clearance levels of visitors using the JPAS and/or successor systems.
    • Maintain daily logs to record and reflect all visitor activity for each location.
    • Register visitor Common Access Cards (CAC) in the intrusion detection system, provision with approved level of accesses per approved access request forms and process initial CAC pin and/or pin resets.
    • Identify requirements and coordinate resources for classified meetings conducted outside of secure spaces in assigned facilities

    Assist meeting coordinators by processing lists of visitors submitted in advance, verifying clearances and preparing badges to issue upon arrival.


    • Monitor intrusion detection system consoles, CCTV and/or other security systems to monitor and manage access to facilities (authorized and/or unauthorized)
    Ensure building tenants and visitors adhere to the PED and command security policies as applicable.


    • Maintain and administer access lists, recall rosters, open/close rosters, SOPs and any other documentation required to manage physical access.
    • Conduct daily inventories to verify badges are accounted for; report lost badges to the NSWC-CR Physical Security Branch
    Conduct end-of-day security checks utilizing the Activity Security Checklist (SF701) and site-specific SOPs.


    • Open, secure, and alarm zones in accordance with site-specific SOPs and maintain Security Container Check Sheets (SF702)
    Staff security desks from or in accordance with SOPs and/or specific facility requirements.


    • Front desk staff will respond to emergencies and/or work outside of normal operating hours to support work to address emergency conditions
    In the event of a security systems failure (during normal shift or after-hours), personnel will staff the security desk until the system failure is corrected and facilities can be properly secured
    Job Requirements


    • Supporting established security programs (e.g., personnel, physical, information, or industrial security).
    • General administrative and/or clerical skills.
    • Practical knowledge of specific security objectives, programs, methods and procedures, and skills in carrying out support tasks related to security administration.
    • Microsoft Office experience.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance
