    Description

    The Laboratory Technician will obtain and test all products manufactured by Superior Dairy in adherence to the sampling plans. He or she must aseptically perform microbiological tests, read the results, and report these appropriately. He or she will also analyze products for analytical accuracy in adherence to Superior Dairy, customer, and legal specifications. The laboratory technicians must also communicate with other technicians, quality analysts, operators, mix makers, maintenance personnel, and supervision.

    Requirements:

    Chemical analysis: fat, total solids, pH, titratable acidity


    • Microbiological testing of raw milk, ingredients, packaged products, and various steps in between


    • Sampling throughout the production facility


    • Communication between other laboratory technicians, plant associates, and supervision


    • Ability to work in a team setting as well as independently


    • Ability to multitask and work quickly while maintaining accuracy and procedure integrity


    • Ability to recognize and effectively make modifications to the methodologies based on circumstance and knowledge.


    • Knowledge of Gmail, Google documents, and Microsoft Office


    • Excellent aseptic technique


    • Knowledge of basic algebra and chemistry


    • Great attention to detail and organization


    • Excellent communication skills


    • Knowledge or AOAC, FDA testing methodologies. Familiar with Standard Methods for the Examination of Dairy Products


    • Knowledge of sample preparation and dilutions


    • Knowledge of microbiology, plating techniques, reading and interpreting microbiological results


    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to recognize when additional resources beyond the scope of the employee or co-workers are necessary.


    • Knowledge of butterfat testing (Babcock, fluoro-transformer) is a plus.
