- Initiates and maintains contact with study participants. Responsible for screening applicants, ensuring they meet appropriate criteria, and makes independent judgment as to the suitability of their participation. Coordinates study visits with adolescents and their parents. Conducts behavioral and neuroimaging (e.g., fMRI) experiments.
- Working in concert with Dr. Belleau and other staff, develops and implements patient recruitment strategies.
- Develops, organizes, and/or maintains the study database. Responsible for data validation and quality control, as well as preliminary statistical analyses.
- In conjunction with Dr. Belleau, develops and implements new research protocols including design, and data collection systems.
- Responsible for mailing various study information or packets to study participants.
- Performs literature searches, as appropriate.
- Assists Dr. Belleau with preparation for presentation and written published articles.
- Assist with monitoring the study budget, including ordering equipment.
- Maintains inventory and orders supplies when necessary.
- Assists Dr. Belleau in IRB submission and compliance with regulatory agencies.
- All other duties as assigned
- For applicants with at least one year of directly related research experience and demonstrated competence in research techniques and methodologies: Trains and oversee new staff or more entry level staff. May serve as a team leader or in a supervisory capacity in a smaller area.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with the study participants.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of clinical research protocol.
- Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc.
- Excellent organization skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs

McLean's multidisciplinary programs treat a broad range of psychiatric illnesses across the full continuum of care.A part-time research assistant position is available to work with Dr. Emily Belleau, Ph.
D., Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Assistant Neuroscientist, at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Belleau is a faculty member within the Laboratory for Affective and Translational Neuroscience, which is a part of McLean's larger Center for Depression, Anxiety and Stress Research ), both directed by Diego Pizzagalli, Ph.
D. Dr.
Belleau's National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded research utilizes brain imaging, behavioral tasks, and clinical interviews to study stress and reward processing neural circuitry in adolescents with and without depression.
