Part-Time | 1 Hour Per Day | Up to 5 Days Per Week (Based on Availability)
Position Overview
P.S. Karma is seeking creative, reliable, and high-energy After School Instructors to lead engaging, hands-on arts & crafts enrichment classes for elementary-aged students.
This is a part-time position working 1 hour per assigned class, with the opportunity to work up to 5 days per week depending on instructor availability and program needs.
Our instructors are more than teachers — they are mentors, creativity guides, and positive role models who support children's social-emotional growth through magical, hands-on enrichment experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Engagement
- Lead 1-hour structured arts & crafts classes for school-age children
- Follow provided curriculum while bringing enthusiasm and creativity to each session
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
- Encourage confidence, teamwork, and self-expression
Classroom Management
- Maintain positive behavior expectations aligned with company standards
- Redirect behavior calmly and professionally
- Ensure students remain safe and engaged at all times
Preparation & Cleanup
- Arrive 30 minutes early for the first class of a session
- Arrive 15 minutes early for subsequent classes
- Set up materials and prepare workspace before class
- Clean and organize materials after each session
Professionalism
- Communicate clearly with program coordinators and school staff
- Follow company policies including media, safety, and confidentiality guidelines
- Maintain punctuality and reliability
- Represent P.S. Karma in a positive and professional manner
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience working with children (preferred)
- Background in arts, crafts, education, childcare, or related field (preferred)
- Ability to manage a group of elementary-aged students independently
- Strong communication and classroom leadership skills
- Must be able to pass required background checks
- Must have reliable transportation; classes are held throughout the DMV area
- Ability to work independently and represent the brand with professionalism
Schedule & Commitment
- 1-hour classes
- Up to 5 days per week based on instructor availability
- Programs run in sessions (typically 6–8 weeks)
- Afternoon hours (after school dismissal)
Physical Requirements
- Standing for extended periods
- Lifting up to 25 lbs (materials and supplies)
- Active engagement with children
