    Position DescriptionIf you love and enjoy engaging in manual projects supporting the U.S Navy and our U.S Naval Ships, Serco has a great opportunity for you Serco is hiring a Senior Marine Welder to be part of a dynamic team supporting our US.

    Navy Ships with equipment, and C5ISR system installations located in the beautiful surroundings in Chesapeake, Virginia.

    Serco supports our US Naval Ships with successful and safe work by providing cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations for our Military.

    You will join an amazing team to fabricate, and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies by applying appropriate safety techniques.

    You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed on-board U.S.

    Naval Ships and military installations.

    In the Senior Marine Welder role, you will:
    Interpret specifications, drawings, blueprints, shop job orders and, process sheets.

    Use a variety of ARC and gas welding equipment to fabricate or repair products such as foundations, cable collars, cable/pipe/vent hangers, cable tubes penetrations, studs, etc.

    Perform related task such as thermal cutting (PLASMA or TORCH) and grinding.
    Have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
    Assign work to qualified personnel.
    Train new shop personnel on machinery, tools and test equipment required for quality construction of products.
    Work onboard U.S.

    Naval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variation and the like and with equipment where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, muscle strains, serious injury, or death.


    QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will:
    Have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
    Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
    Have a minimum of 8 years welding experience
    Be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures
    Get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout their work shift.
    Have own tools of the trade and able to pass pre-certification company weld test.
    Be able to successfully complete the following

    Serco Welding Procedures:

    Serco-001 (GMAW, Aluminum - 4 position), Serco-002 (SMAW, HY100-4 position), Serco-003 (GMAW, Aluminum - 4 position), Serco-007 (SMAW, C/S to S/S - 4 position), and Serco-012 (SMAW, S/S to S/S - 4 position).

    Be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position.

    Have attention to safety (which is critical)
    Be willing to travel up to 10% to various work sites.

    Be able to obtain gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening.
