    Shifts: Currently, hiring for morning (5:30am-2:00pm) and evening shifts (11am-7:30pm)

    Wages: $20.50 per hour and increases with years of experience.

    Responsibilities:

    PUBLIC RELATIONS:
    • Participates in preparation of food for outside events to promote the facility (such as Chili Cook Off and other fund raisers)
    • Coordinate activities that will invite the community to visit (such as Holiday Dinners)
    • Ensures snacks, coffee or appetizers are available for guest/visitors as requested by the Dietary Manager, Administrator, etc.
    • Understands that she/he represents Eldercare of Bemidji in every exchange and strives to do so in a positive manner.
    • Understands that excellent customer service is the highest form of public relations and her/his role in providing the highest level of customer service.
    RESIDENTS:
    • Assure that the nutritionally related needs of the residents are met/maintained on an individual basis (i.e. dietary orders are being followed, resident likes and dislikes are honored)
    • Proactively encourages and supports residents' rights.
    • Understands and complies with the responsibilities of a mandated reported for vulnerable adults.
    • Understands and observes the need for strict resident confidentiality.
    • Participates in and supports Customer Service Rounds.
    • Offers resolution of or a visit from the appropriate individual who may offer resolution of any dislikes or concerns and communicates these actions to supervisor.
    OPERATIONS:
    • Prepares, cooks/bakes and serves food following appropriate guidelines, menus, recipes and recommendations of the Dietary Manager.
    • Directs Dietary Aides in food preparation and serving tasks.
    • Assists the dietary manager in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluation of the culinary service programs of this facility.
    • Assists in the administering of department policies and procedures and directing fellow employees to follow and respect department and organization wide policy and procedures.
    • Is responsible for the monitoring of food temperature at cooking, in the steam table, and cooling down of leftovers.
    • Completes necessary forms, reports, etc., and submits them to the Dietary Manager as required (i.e. audits, recorded temps, checking in of groceries, ensuing all opened and stored foods are covered and dated.)
    • Monitors food for past/outdated and discards appropriately.
    • Attends and participates in the in-service training programs.
    • Wears name tag and hair net at all times
    • May be asked to observe meals and interview residents to survey the meal process, food presentation, and dinning setting or visit with residents in dining room to promote customer service.
    • Reports any problems with equipment, food, recipes, and chemicals used for cleaning to the Dietary Manger.
    • Participates in and promotes resident rounds.
    BUDGET:
    • Monitors waste and makes recommendations for changes necessary to reduce waste; have a plan for left over's
    • Offers input for capital equipment budget
    • Participates in control of costs through proper use of equipment, appropriate use of supplies and effective, efficient organization of duties.
    • Understands the correlation between census and income and that expenses must be reduced in times of low census including adjustment of staff hours.
    BUILDING:
    • Reports safety and environmental hazards.
    • Maintains a clean and orderly environment
    • Responsible for helping to maintain the facility in a safe and clean manner by picking up debris on the floors and wiping up spills.
    • Responds appropriately to all emergency drills as, actual emergency codes, and emergency preparedness response.
    • Aware of role in disaster plans for the facility and participates in these plans and procedures during drills and actual events.
    • Responsible for reporting the need for repairs using the Maintenance Order form.
    EMPLOYEES:
    • Maintains open communication with all departments to promote the best quality of care for residents/family.
    • Reports to work on time, properly groomed according to departmental/facility dress code
    • Follows established ergonomics policies and procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses.
    • Maintains open communication with fellow employees demonstrating respect, courtesy, and a warm environment.
    Requirements
    • Required to work every other weekend
    • Required to complete Drug screen and TB test upon employment.
    • Required to complete DHS background study upon employment.
    • Ability to read and follow recipes, directions, policies and procedures.
    • Ability to write.
    • Ability to direct Dietary Aides in the performing food preparation tasks.
    • Prior commercial cooking experience is preferred.
    • Knowledge of food safety
    • Ability to work independently and be team orientated.
    Salary Description

    $20.50-$21.96/ Per Hour
