    Job Description and Duties


    Under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Executive and the administrative supervision of the Chief Support Executive or Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF), the Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist, CF performs or oversees the most difficult technical pre-analytical and post-analytical patient testing for the purposes of clinical treatment, medical diagnosis, health assessment or disease prevention.

    The Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist, CF provides technical direction to lower level laboratory staff.

    Participates in quality assurance reviews and prepares administrative reports, statements, budget requests, and other documents required by administrative and medical staff.

    Maintains order and supervises the conduct of inmates and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.


    Minimum Qualifications:


    Possession of a valid California State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or a license of equal or higher level issued by the State Department of Health Services.

    (Applicants who do not meet these requirements will be admitted to the examination, but must secure the required license before they will be considered eligible for appointment.)

    One year of experience in comprehensive laboratory work which has involved making laboratory analyses.


    This position may be eligible for some telework opportunities with in-person attendance required at the Region II Institutions and the Fresno Regional Office based on operational needs.

    Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

    Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
