    Applied Research Solutions is seeking a full-time Technical Manual Designer (Technical Order Writer) at a corporate partner's facility in Cincinnati, OH
    This role's primary function is creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation related to aircraft engine maintenance and repair
    This includes writing clear and concise maintenance procedures, repair instructions, troubleshooting guides, and other technical documents
    The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, mechanics, and quality assurance teams to ensure that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry standards and regulations

    Responsibilities include:

    • Develop, write, and edit technical manuals and other technical documents for aircraft engine maintenance and repair, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, including S1000D, to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions.
    • Conduct Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) for O-level tasks such as Line-Replaceable Unit (LRU) replacement, servicing procedures, and other maintenance activities.
    • Incorporate Design Engineering Data, including drawings, 3D models, and digital engine information, into technical documentation to provide comprehensive instructions for maintenance and repair.
    • Create and maintain Support Equipment Technical Data Sheets (TDS) to provide detailed information on the proper use, maintenance, and calibration of support equipment used in aircraft engine maintenance.
    • Develop Authorized Repair Instructions (ARI) to guide technicians in performing authorized repairs on aircraft engines, ensuring compliance with OEM specifications and industry standards.
    • Collaborate with engineers and mechanics to gather necessary information for technical documentation, including input on maintenance procedures, repair techniques, and troubleshooting steps.
    • Review and update existing technical orders, MTA, Design Engineering Data, TDS, and ARI to ensure accuracy and compliance with changes in equipment, procedures, and regulations.
    • Work with quality assurance teams to ensure all technical orders and related documents meet quality standards.
    • Coordinate with training teams to develop training materials based on technical orders and other technical documents.
    • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology, maintenance procedures, and documentation.
    • Ensure all technical orders and related documents comply with industry standards and regulations, including but not limited to FAA Regulations, ICAO Standards, OEM Specifications, and Military Standards and Specifications.

    Basic Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance
    Will consider 6 years with Bachelor's Degree.

    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including FAA Regulations, ICAO Standards, OEM Specifications, and Military Standards and Specifications.
    • Strong knowledge of aircraft engine systems, maintenance procedures, and repair techniques.
    • Experience in conducting Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) for O-level tasks.
    • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in writing technical documentation in a related field, with knowledge of S1000D principles and guidelines.
    • Experience in interpreting and incorporating Design Engineering Data, including drawings, 3D models, and digital engine information, into technical documentation.
    • Experience writing in XML/S1000D International Specification for Technical Publications/IETM/Data Module writing
    • Familiarity with creating and maintaining Support Equipment Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and Authorized Repair Instructions (ARI).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent knowledge and demonstrated work experience using the Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, Power Point plus Adobe Acrobat.

    Working Conditions:

    • This position may require occasional travel to various maintenance facilities for on-site observation and data collection

    The Technical Order Writer may also need to work in a hangar or shop environment on occasion to gain hands-on experience with the aircraft engines they are documenting.
