Job summary
The New York State Senate Legal Counsel provides essential legal support and advice.This dynamic role involves a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to: Offering legal guidance to Senate members and staff on legislative matters Drafting and reviewing legislation Assisting in the drafting of bills and resolutions Reviewing proposed legislation for legal implications and compliance Representing the Senate in legal proceedings as necessary Coordinating with external legal counsel on complex legal issues Contributing to the development of policies procedures within the Senate Ensuring that Senate practices align with legal standards best practices Preparing materials briefing Senator staff on legislation policy initiatives regulatory changes Assisting Senator preparation for public hearings roundtable discussions forums other public meetings events Working Albany statewide staff assist Senators drafting analyzing legislation policy Meeting stakeholders advocacy constituency groups
