    *THIS POSITION IS GRANT FUNDED - 1 YEAR ASSIGNMENT

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, project management, and leadership development while positively impacting the community. This position involves engaging with residents, fostering community leadership, coordinating beautification events, and ensuring the well-being and satisfaction of residents. This position will support the Resident Coordinator as a point of contact for TAB members, addressing their needs, concerns, and inquiries and fostering an inclusive living environment. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, computer skills, and a commitment to promoting community engagement and resident satisfaction. Assists other team members as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position would normally be gained through enrollment in a degree program ion urban planning, landscape architecture, community development, environment studies, or a related field, or the equivalent of a minimum of one year of experience in housing, customer service, or other relevant experience. Will consider a combination of appropriate education and experience.
    • Ability to collaborate with property management, residents, and community organizations to initiate and support the formation of Tenant Association Boards.
    • Ability to collaborate with tenant association boards to identify beautification opportunities and priorities within Housing Complex/Community, such as park improvements, landscaping enhancements, mural installations, and neighborhood clean-up efforts.
    • Ability to assist in conducting community assessments and surveys to gather input from residents, identify needs and preferences, and prioritize beautification projects based on community feedback.
    • Skill in researching best practices, design trends, and sustainability principles related to community beautification and placemaking to inform project planning and execution.
    • Ability to assist in developing project proposals, budgets, timelines, and work plans for beautification projects, including procurement of materials, supplies and equipment.
    • Ability to support outreach and recruitment efforts to engage volunteers, residents, and community partners in beautification projects, including organizing volunteer workdays, training sessions, and community meetings.
    • Ability to assist in coordinating logistics for beautification projects, including site preparation, installation, maintenance, and post-project evaluation, to ensure successful completion and long-term sustainability.
    • Ability to provide administrative support, such as maintaining project documentation, tracking expenses, and preparing reports, to support project management and accountability.
    • Skill in collaborating with tenant association boards, property management, and external stakeholders to promote community engagement, environmental stewardship, and social cohesion through beautification projects.
    • Ability to participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions to enhance skills in project management, community organizing, leadership development, and sustainable design.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records of tenant association activities, membership rosters, meeting minutes, and correspondence, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and confidentiality standards.
    • Skill in maintaining accurate activity records, including date, time, participants, activities, etc.
    • Experience working with racially diverse populations and demonstrated cultural competency skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
    • Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.
    • Strong interest in community development, social justice, environmental sustainability, and placemaking.
    • Adherence to confidentiality laws.
    • Ability to comply with policies, rules, and procedures of the organization.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
    • Must have and maintain a current driver's license and reliable transportation.
