    Finance and Research Analyst

    The School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford is seeking a Finance & Research Analyst to manage pre- and post-award activity in the Department of Mathematics.

    Position Summary:

    The successful candidate will ensure all sponsored research activity in the department complies with Stanford, sponsor, and government regulations. They will work closely with faculty, students, and visitors to develop, assemble, and submit research proposals; set up accounts; manage financial activity; prepare reports; and respond to requests as needed.

    Duties:

    • Participate in proposal preparation and submission process, ensuring completeness and compliance.
    • Develop and finalize project budgets, budget justifications, and other documentation.
    • Serve as liaison between principal investigators, Office of Sponsored Research, research groups, and other departments.
    • Collaborate with Office of Sponsored Research to ensure sponsor deadlines are met and awards are set up properly.
    • Review and approve expenditures, advise on post-award spending, and oversee compliance related to funds and revenue.
    • Develop and communicate reports supporting project status and create forecasting and decision aids.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree and three years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Knowledge of governmental regulations and ability to understand, interpret, and communicate policies and procedures.
    • Excellent oral, written, and communication skills, as well as analytical and accounting skills.
    • Familiarity with Stanford Research Administration and completion of Cardinal Curriculum I or CRAFT Level I training are desired but not necessary.

    Additional Information:

    This is a full-time continuing exempt position based on the Stanford campus. The position will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site) subject to operational need. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
