    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The purpose of this position is to provide custodial and maintenance services in maintaining County buildings, facilities, and keeping grounds clean, orderly, and secure.

    Serve as support worker to park staff at county parks and recreation areas. Perform cleaning duties, routine maintenance activities, and inform management of repair needs.


    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
    1. Provide general custodial and maintenance of assigned county buildings and facilities.2. Perform various custodial duties such as cleaning, stocking bathrooms, removing trash, and cleaning windows.3. Landscape maintenance to include mowing, trimming, weeding and mulch installs.4. Change light bulbs, paint various surfaces, and lubricate door hinges.5. Perform custodial and maintenance duties as designated on work orders.6. Dispose properly of unwanted materials, and recycle paper shreds, scrap lumber and cardboard.7. Utilize and maintain assigned County Vehicle if applicable.
    Essential Job Duties are intended to be examples of duties and are not intended to be all inclusive. There will be other duties as assigned.


    Additional duties include:
    Process requisitions, receive and stock inventory, materials and supplies, and apply pesticides as required

    RequirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
    Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;Knowledge of cleaning materials and methods for proper use of chemicals and materials;Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;Ability to prioritize tasksKnowledge of general custodial and lawn maintenance procedures;Physical abilities to perform duties;Knowledge of County guidelines and procedures;Ability to operate cleaning tools, accessories and equipment


    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    The educational requirement for this position is: Completion of high school/GED. Education may not be substituted for experience.
    Related-experience required: 0-2 years.

    Experience may not be substituted for education LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
    Certifications, licenses, professional designations, or other qualifications required for this position include: Valid SC Driver's License


    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Physical Requirements:

    This position requires lifting:

    Up to 10 pounds:
    over 2/3 of the time; up to 25 pounds: under 1/3 of the time; up to 50 pounds: under 1/3 of the time; up to 100 pounds: under 1/3 of the time; and, more than 100 pounds: under 1/3 of the time

    Vision Requirements:
    This position has the following special vision requirements:

    • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
    • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
    • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
    • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right when vision is fixed on a given point)
    • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
    • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
