Job description
A rapidly growing manufacturer in the long‑duration energy storage sector is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to support the design and development of industrial control systems for advanced electrochemical energy storage technology.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong experience in AutoCAD Electrical, Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, and control panel design, along with familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
You will contribute to the automation and controls that power next‑generation flow battery systems.Key Responsibilities
Design and develop industrial control systems for energy storage equipment, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
Develop and modify PLC programs in Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell Studio 5000 to support system functionality, safety, and performance.
Produce complete control panel designs, including component selection, layout drawings, and bills of materials.Ensure that all designs comply with NEC requirements and follow industry best practices.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—mechanical, electrical, chemical, and manufacturing—through design, build, testing, and commissioning of system components.
Interpret P&IDs, customer requirements, and system‑level functional specifications.
Support build, integration, testing, and troubleshooting activities for energy storage system controls.
Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for all design deliverables.
Provide technical support to production, field deployment, and commissioning teams as needed.
Required Qualifications
Background in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or similar.
Experience using AutoCAD Electrical for schematic and panel design.
Hands‑on experience programming with Siemens TIA Portal (S7‑1200/1500).
Hands‑on experience programming with Rockwell Studio 5000 (ControlLogix/CompactLogix).
Strong understanding of control panel design, component selection, wiring best practices, and industrial electrical standards.
Working knowledge of NEC and general electrical safety requirements.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast‑paced hardware development environment.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HMI development (FactoryTalk View, Ignition, WinCC, etc.).
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
Experience supporting panel fabrication, system integration testing, or field commissioning.
Exposure to energy storage, batteries, power systems, fuel cells, or related industrial electrochemical systems (not required but beneficial).
