    Position Overview:

    The Cyber Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of operating systems, networks, and IT security systems and applications.

    This role involves a broad spectrum of activities including security monitoring, incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery.

    The Cyber Engineer will implement robust security controls, apply operational risk mitigations, and address a wide range of security issues related to architectures, data traffic, and network access.

    A primary responsibility of this position is to work closely with all members of the team as the subject matter expert for cyber security in support of execution of this contract providing IT support, technology elements, and data migration between data centers and the cloud to the Department of Justice (DoJ).

    Utilizing both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and government off-the-shelf (GOTS) tools, as well as custom solutions, the Cyber Engineer will play a critical role in scanning, identifying, containing, mitigating, and remediating vulnerabilities and intrusions.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Test and implement secure operating systems, networks, and IT security systems and applications to protect against unauthorized access and potential threats.
    • Conduct security monitoring to detect and respond to incidents and execute loss prevention and eDiscovery actions.
    • Implement security controls and apply operational risk mitigations to enhance the security posture of the organization.
    • Address a variety of security issues, including but not limited to system architectures, data traffic, and network access.
    • Utilize a combination of COTS/GOTS tools and custom processes and procedures to effectively scan for, identify, and respond to vulnerabilities and intrusions.
    • Assist in the implementation of required government policies, such as the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and Director of Central Intelligence Directive (DCID) 6/3, and recommend process tailoring where appropriate.
    • Support formal Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E) activities as required by government accrediting authorities.
    • Periodically review system audits, monitor for compliance, and ensure timely corrective actions for any identified issues.

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of related experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related technical field.
    • Remote support to the program, though on-site meetings with other team members and with customers are required.
    • An active Department of Justice (DoJ) (or reciprocal) clearance is preferred but not required for this position, but a willingness to obtain if a requirement is put into place. Public Trust required.
    • This position is not anticipated to require much travel, but could be up to 15-25% of the time, more heavily during the base period with reduced travel anticipated in option periods.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Strong foundational knowledge in cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.
    • Experience with security monitoring, incident response, digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery.
    • Familiarity with implementing security controls and operational risk mitigation strategies.
    • Proficiency in using COTS/GOTS cybersecurity tools and developing custom solutions to address security challenges.
    • Understanding of government security policies and regulations, with the ability to assist in their implementation and recommend process improvements.
    • Ability to support ST&E activities and effectively communicate findings to accrediting authorities.
    • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to review and interpret system audits and monitor compliance.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
    • A proactive approach to staying updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.

    Desired Skills and Abilities:

    • Understanding of and experience with storage systems and data migration projects, between data centers as well as into the cloud.
    • Relevant security certifications desired, such as CISM or CISSP.
    • Experience supporting data center moves and migrations is a plus.
