- All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- Shift work may be required (rotating shifts and weekend) works 24-hour shift on-duty with 4 or 5 work shift existing in a 2-week pay period.
- Must possess either a Georgia State paramedics license or a National Registry or Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic certification and be able to obtain the other within one year of employment.
- This position is subject to mandatory overtime.
- This position is subject to recall to maintain adequate staffing.

One year of specialized experience which includes responding to accidents or emergencies involving injuries and/or illnesses; conducting examinations to obtain patient vital signs; initiating intravenous (IV) therapy; and operating an emergency vehicle.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OREducation:
One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Applied Science of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Emergency Management, Fire Science, or Public Administration.
ORCombination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.Licensure/Certification:
Georgia State paramedics license or a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Certification
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Certification
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION:
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S.
