    Senior Software Systems Safety Engineer

    Our client is looking for a dedicated Senior Systems Software (Safety) Engineer to contribute to the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) System Safety Program. As a part of the System Safety Team, you will offer specialized Warfare System and System Safety Engineering expertise to the CPS program. The ideal candidate should be a motivated self-starter capable of clearly communicating complex technical matters both orally and in writing, working autonomously and in group settings, meeting deadlines, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

    Required Experience:

    • At least 15 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 7 years in Systems Safety.
    • Background in safety programs like Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD), Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), NIFC-CA, DDG-1000, Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), or US Coast Guard programs.
    • Familiarity with Weapon System Explosives Safety Review Board (WSESRB) and the Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP).
    • Proficiency in database administration, computer programming (C and C++), and hazard tracking databases.
    • Possession of a formal degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical field is preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    Description of Duties:

    • Provide technical, operational, and engineering support for systems and software engineering teams.
    • Analyze and assess safety risks.
    • Lead and participate in engineering and safety reviews.
    • Conduct risk assessment studies focusing on software risk.
    • Generate reports and briefings.
    • Deliver presentations to formal boards including WSESRB.
    • Review System Safety Plans, Safety Management Plans, and safety testing documentation/plans.
    • Research, design, develop, and test software utilized in DoD weapon systems.
    • Employ cutting-edge model-based tools.
    • Analyze engineering materials related to system design and development.

    Travel Requirement:

    • Occasional regional travel is expected.
    • Willingness to travel for task support, including potentially being underway if necessary.

    Security Clearance Requirements:

    • Must be a US citizen.
    • Eligibility for classified information access is mandatory.
