    About the position

    As the Systems Engineering Manager, you will lead and manage the performance, workload, production, quality of work, and schedules for an assigned technical group and reporting team. The Systems Engineering Manager will coordinate and assist other technical groups and develop appropriate training and development programs to facilitate individual and team growth.


    Day in the life

    • Participates in strategic planning activities for an assigned technical group. Provides day-to-day leadership and management in that group.
    • Benchmarks with other business leaders to ensure consistent and best practice work standards, strategic goals and objectives, training, and policies and procedures are created and maintained for operations management.
    • Works closely with project managers and others to ensure all project job specifications, quality standards, and procedures are understood and adhered to. Manages and reviews pre-planning, programming, commissioning, and training tasks as appropriate.
    • Monitors and projects required labor resources to ensure adequate staffing during high and low workloads and manage vacations and other employee absences. Coordinates and prioritizes workloads and schedules.
    • Reviews project plans and specifications and coordinate with the team to confirm the complete scope.
    • Assigns, tracks, and coordinates team members with appropriate project roles.
    • Identifies current and potential technologies and products which require training and certification.
    • Assesses project issues and risks, then troubleshoot and teams with others to creatively solve problems related to systems and other project-related issues.
    • Conducts communication meetings with project teams and others to provide subject matter expertise and discuss project forecasts, planning needs, deliverables, milestone achievements, and project start-up/close-out actions. Provides development progress reports and recommendations to management as needed.
    • Creates and facilitates technology and safety training for employees and owners and ensures accountability of safety and ergonomics procedures, processes, and initiatives. Conducts on-site project reviews and inspections to enhance safety and productivity initiatives.
    • Participates in the annual budgeting process and manages financials related to assigned operations.
    • Creates and maintains positive customer, client, consultant, vendor, and community relationships.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in business, technologies construction, electrical or building construction, or a related field.
    • Minimum 5-7 years of construction experience in operations leadership with a preferred concentration in commercial construction projects and service work.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience managing people.
    • Experience with computerized estimating systems, preferably Accubid.
    • Experience in the planning, design, programming, testing, commissioning, training, and servicing systems. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and job site safety requirements.
    • Experience and skills in establishing budgets and working with external vendors to negotiate purchases.
    • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices. Skills to read, interpret and understand telecommunications and/or electrical contracts, plans, drawings and specifications, and financial reports and documents.
    • Extensive skills and experience in project management. Thorough understanding of the project life cycle.
